Charlemagne Targets Herschel Walker But Gave Obama A Pass Over Reparatio...

Charlemagne The God decided to give Herschel Walker Donkey of the Day due to his recent testimony at the H.R. 40 hearing where he voiced opposition to reparations for the African American Descendants of Slavery. This was hypocritical in light of Obama being on record for years as being opposed to reparations yet C Tha God never said a mumbling word about it. Tom Brady Offers Tyrann Mathieu An Apology

Why Black People Always Go For The Okey Doke

After 8 years of inaction on any issues specifically affecting Black Americans by Barack Obama, you would think that Black people at large and Black voters in particular would take a more pragmatic approach to politics from then on. Barack Obama's presidency, in my opinion, exposed the fatal flaw in Black political strategy; confusing likeability with electability and accepting symbolism over substance.

(In 2008, 55 percent of white voters cast their ballots for John McCain; in 2012, 59 percent of white voters cast their ballots for Mitt Romney.)

Obama captured nearly 95% of the Black vote in 2008; during the first two years of his term Democrats controlled both Houses of Congress. Speaking from my point of view, I certainly didn't expect Barack Obama to single handedly  change Black people's condition overnight; however, I did expect a very deliberate nod, policy wise, to the constituency that gave him nearly all of their votes.  Not only did he get our votes, he was also the beneficiary of an explicit agreement between "Black leadership", most notably Al Sharpton, the mainstream media and the Black electorate, who agreed to never publicly pressure, critique or condemn Obama.

"Sharpton told us that having a black president is a challenge: if he finds fault with Mr. Obama, he'd be aiding those who want to destroy him. So he has decided not to criticize the president about anything -- even about black unemployment, which is twice the national rate." Lesly Stahl, 60 Minutes
Al Sharpton, in his own words, along with many others, was satisfied with merely having a Black face in a high place. Rather than advocate for the people of his group, Al Sharpton thought it more prudent to protect a politician who refused to act specifically for his African American constituents.

When pressed about targeting the African American community, Barack  advised us that "that's not how America works",  while providing specific remedies for other groups.

Asked about his critics among Black leadership, Obama downplayed the number of those who dared speak against him as only "a handful" and assured that the vast majority of Black people had some universal understanding that  what is good for all will be good for African Americans.

Most members of the Congressional Black Caucus were quiet. Maxine Waters did chime in, however, citing high unemployment rates among African Americans. She also noted that they were unsure as to what "the strategy" was due to Obama's silence and absence from Black communities while he toured the country during that time.

Obama's response to the criticism was direct and very condescending. Obama admonished the CBC, and all who dared speak out ostensibly, to stop grumbling and complaining and to "shake it off".

One critic of note was Cornel West. West, an ardent Obama supporter and surrogate during his candidacy, was also a fierce critic of Obama during his presidency. West was able to appreciate the symbolism of an Obama presidency while still expecting and demanding substantive policy, directly targeted to the African American community. West went so far as to characterize Obama's remarks as disrespectful and that he ought to ask for forgiveness for speaking in such a condescending manner in the face of legitimate criticisms.

Ok, we always say, when someone tells you who they are, believe them. Somehow this principle was forgotten when it came to the first Black president. After freely giving 95% of our votes to Obama, even after the tacit agreement between Black leadership and the rank and file to not criticize Obama, when he was looked to for leadership, Obama decided it was best to take a defensive posture rather than a proactive one, lashing out at his critics in a most un-presidential manner. Most wilted in the face of such harsh pushback from the president. Those who expressed dismay were quickly silenced. Objective journalism took a decidedly partisan tone, with talking heads such as Al Sharpton, Melissa Harris-Perry and Michael Eric-Dyson, all employed by MSNBC, were unleashed upon all who dared to stand up to Obama.

This was the time to step back and take stock of the situation. Granted he was the first so-called Black president and all of that, but when you receive an abundance of support, deserved or not, a nod in that direction when it's time to settle up is definitely in order. At the end of Obama's first term there should have been a reckoning. The gauntlet should have been laid down before the end of his first term; forcing him to push for specific policy from a Democratically controlled Congress or via Executive Order akin to his DACA program.

Something needed to be done in order to secure the vote for his second term. But no, Black people were led to believe and/or deluded themselves into thinking that during his second term Obama would surely look out for African Americans. He would finally be unleashed! Instead, we got more of the same. Empty rhetoric and excuses for the next four years.

We allowed Barack Obama ride our coat tails to the presidency of the United States and float through an 8 year term with no real criticism. We were fine with Obama just being Black and that was all that we required. No policy, no Executive Orders, just be Black, whatever that means. We laid down.

Again, we confused likeability with electability and we accepted symbolism over substance. Rather than using the leverage of our 95% vote and push for substantive policy, we reveled in the imagery of the first Black presidency, allowing ourselves to succumb to the cult of personality.
Politics is all about the distribution of limited resources; who gets what and how much. In that regard, personality should not be what ultimately sells you on a politician; policy which dictates whatever resources you require to address interests most vital to your agenda should be the motivating factor.

In short, African Americans would benefit from a more pragmatic approach to politics. Nothing fancy; just a simple, straightforward approach to the game. We need to stick to the fundamentals and not worry too much about the razzle dazzle of modern day political theater. It's certainly a circus and if you're not careful you'll find yourself being distracted by the clowns rather than paying attention to the ringmaster. We've got to keep our eye on the ball and if an opportunity to advance our position and possibly score presents itself
we've got to be prudent enough to act in a manner which will ultimately lead us to attain our desired ends. The mantra should always be - no permanent friends, no permanent enemies, only permanent interests when it comes to politics.

Black Deputy Commits Suicide: "I've Had Enough!"

Deputy Clyde Kerr III of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office took his own life outside of the police station where he worked on Monday, February 1st. Prior to his death, Kerr, a 43 year old military veteran and a father, left a series of videos where he spoke bluntly about issues of race, policing and the injustice inherently built into the system of law enforcement.

In his videos, Kerr spoke bluntly on issues of race, police injustice as well as mental health needs in law enforcement. Kerr also spoke to his own struggles, trying to reconcile his identity as a Black man working within an unjust system. He also hinted at his impending demise.

Lafayette City Marshal Reggie Thomas stated, "Being a Black man in law enforcement can be difficult". Thomas was the first Black elected to a city wide position in Lafayette. Since his death, Kerr's videos have gone viral, sparking the age old yet never resolved conversation about systemic racial violence inherent within law enforcement institutions.

In his own words Kerr stated: "You have no idea how hard it is to put a uniform on in this day and age with everything that's going on," he said. "My entire life has been in the service of other people ... y'all entrust me to safeguard your little ones, your small ones, the thing that's most precious to you, and I did that well. I passed security clearance in the military ... but that has allowed me to see the inner workings of things."

Kerr made it apparent that his choice to end his life was made with a clear mind and with a purpose attached to it; as a protest. “I’ve had enough.” Kerr said in one of his videos.

He pointed out the deaths of Botham Jean, murdered in his apartment by off duty Dallas PD officer, Amber Guyger; Breonna Taylor, killed by the Louisville Kentucky Police Department while serving a no knock warrant and George Floyd, who was murdered on camera while being detained on suspicion of passing counterfeit currency.

Remember Christopher Dorner? former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner went on a killing spree and then led police on a massive manhunt after he was accused of shooting five police officers and killing two, along with two other people, after leaving a manifesto in which he also expressed his exasperation with the racial bias he himself faced as a Black man working in law enforcement. Dorner broke the Blue Wall of silence when he reported a fellow officer who had abused a mentally ill suspect, an act that led to Dorner being fired from the force. Dorner, like Kerr, has also served time in the military. Both apparently pushed to the brink after buckling under the weight of baked in racism with little to no accountability.

Now What Black People?

So we allegedly helped Biden win the 2020 Presidential Election. And if we did not we voted to the tune of 87% for Joe Biden, but in the first 100 days of his administration that same sense of urgency has not been reciprocated via specific policy.

Illegal immigrants have received prioritization as well as LGBTQ and Asians. So far Black, American Descendants of Slavery have gotten lip service, a proposal to make Lift Every Voice and Sing, the National Hymn and more talk of putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 Bill.

Police Chief and Deputy Fired Body-cam Catches Them Using Racial Slurs

West Georgia police chief, Gene Allmond has resigned and Patrolman John Brooks has been terminated, after bodycam footage shows the pair engaging in conversation and using racial slurs liberally throughout their dialogue. The announcement came from Buddy Walker, the Assistant to Hamilton Mayor Julie Brown.

The pair were engaged in conversation regarding the upcoming Black Lives Matters protests the two were preparing for and were unaware that the exchange was being recorded on Officer Brooks' bodycam. The N word was used several times throughout the conversation and at one point Officer Brooks remarked that "If I had to F**k a N***er" that he preferred Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms over former gubernatorial candidate, Stacey Abrams.

However, the conversation did not stop there; they moved on to the topic of slavery. "For the most part, it seems to me like they furnished them a house to live in.They furnished them clothes to put on their back. They furnished them food to put on their table and all they had to do was f***ing work. And now we give 'em all those things and don't have to f***ing work," one of the men said on the video. After being made aware of the incident city officials took swift action, advising both parties that if they did not resign that they would be terminated.

Hamilton Mayor Pro-Tempo-re Ransom Farley stumbled upon the video footage and made other city officials aware of it. Farley, who is Black and openly gay, was particularly stunned by the incident, remarking, "It hurts, when you think you know somebody and you don't."

City attorney Ron Iddins remarked "It was determined that the two officers involved needed to no longer work for the City of Hamilton,". According to Iddins, "A bodycam that was used by the city was being inspected because we had been informed that the bodycam did not work. But when it was looked at, it was determined that the bodycam actually had full memory of video,".

Chief Allman resigned on Monday. Officer Brooks was asked to turn his gear in by Wednesday, when he did not he was terminated. Both men declined to comment on the incident.

SOUTH FULTON POLICE OFFICER ASSAULTS ATLANTA ACTIVIST

Activist Marcus Coleman, of South Fulton, Ga, was violently attacked and assaulted by South Fulton Deputy, Officer Solomon Muhammad on Friday January 29, 2021.

The incident took place Friday afternoon along a stretch of Roosevelt Highway after a traffic accident had occurred. The encounter began when Marcus Coleman, Founder of Save Our Selves, a grass roots organization focusing on community outreach and family support services, approached the deputy to inquire about the lack of traffic control in the aftermath of a serious motor vehicle accident. After rolling down his passenger side window and hearing Coleman's concerns about a lack of traffic control the deputy promptly rolled his window back up without comment.

Coleman proceeded to move away from the patrol car, continuing to record and give commentary on the events unfolding when Officer Muhammad exited his patrol vehicle and aggressively approached Mr. Coleman. Coleman backed away in an effort to create social distance between himself and the unmasked officer. After putting a mask on the officer then tells Coleman that he needs to get back in his vehicle, to which Coleman declines. As the two seem to be done with the exchange, moving away from one another, Coleman remarks that he will see what Chief Meadows has to say about this, at which point, officer Muhammad becomes unhinged and things quickly go left.
